About the Course
As practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we must bridge the gap between TCM and Western biomedicine. With a clear understanding of healthy physiology according to TCM, we can better interpret common symptoms and biomedicine diagnoses through a TCM lens. Then we must address the source of the problem by reestablishing the body’s healthy Qi cycle. This course will bridge that gap and clarify your understanding of immunity and musculoskeletal physiology, disease, and treatment with TCM.
Course Objectives
In this course, students will learn how to diagnose and treat chronic, stubborn skin conditions caused by internal imbalances, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, hyper-pigmentation, itching, rashes, nodules, and ulcers. Students will learn the following:
How diagnose skin lesions by interpreting their color, texture, location, configuration, and distribution
How to identify the factors of Qi, blood, channel and organ involvement, and the six Qi of wind, dry, damp, cold, heat, and summer-heat
How to balance these factors by applying treatment principles and protocols for acupuncture, herbal medicine, and diet therapy
The primary diagnosis technique practiced will be visual observation. Treatment modalities will apply the instructor's Traditional Chinese Medicine Unified Principles Method that includes scalp and body acupuncture protocols, herbal formula combinations, as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations all designed to address the source of the problem by reestablishing the body’s healthy Qi cycle. The instructor will use case studies from her clinical experience to discuss treatment efficacy.
